Reading the spectrum
A short laser pulse makes substances in the water fluoresce. The spectrum shows the returning light; its features give us indices for dissolved organic matter, chlorophyll-a and suspended particles.
The indices are relative values, not concentrations. A dash means a value is unavailable or withheld by quality control.
